Job Description

TWM is seeking an experienced Construction Engineering Technician to join our Construction Field Services team.  This position will perform construction observation services on a variety of civil engineering projects while working closely with TWM staff, contractors, and clients.

Experience Level:  2-5 years

Schedule:  Full-time, 40 hours / week, with the possibility of additional hours

Location:  Based in Peoria, Swansea, or Alton, IL

Salary: $25.00-$30.00/hr. —  Salary is commensurate with experience

Essential job functions:

  • Observe and document the construction of transportation-related projects, such as roadways and trails, water system projects, such as water main and plant upgrades, while representing the project owner/TWM client.
  • Check that projects are built to plans and specifications
  • Coordinate with office staff and contractors
  • Conduct site/field visits as needed

Qualifications Desired: 

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is a plus
  • At least 2 years of experience in civil construction.
  • Construction Observation experience with one or more of the following entities is a plus:  IDOT, Local Public Agencies, Utility Companies.
  • Strong coordination and communication skills, along with ability to work effectively with clients, contractors, and the public
  • Must be able to work independently as well as collaboratively
  • Willingness to work hard
  • Attention to detail
